    Sep 17, 1998 - Ken Griffey‚ Jr. hits his 53rd homer to pace the Mariners to an 8-0 whipping of Oakland. Tom Candiotti serves up the helping of gopher to Junior.

    Apr 11, 1998 - Andy Pettitte pitches the Yankees to a 3-1 win over the A's‚ to put the team over the .500 mark for the first time in the season. Pettitte earned his 1st win of the year‚ beating Tom Candiotti. Derek Jeter has 2 hits‚ 2 runs‚ and 2 steals.

    Dec 9, 1997 - The Athletics sign free agent P Tom Candiotti.

His start breaks a 90-year-old ML record‚ and is the 454th consecutive start by a righthander for LA. The Dodgers‚ from October 2‚ 1902 until April 14‚ 1906‚ a string of 453 games‚ started nothing but righties. After Candiotti's exit‚ the Cubs win 4-3 in 10 innings when Sammy Sosa singles home the winner. The win snaps the Cubs' 7-game loss streak.

For Feller‚ it is the 4th time he's tossed a one-hitter against the Brownies and his 11th career one-hitter. It'll be 35 years before another Tribe tosser‚ Tom Candiotti‚ pitches a one-hit loss.
