Decorated for his heroics in the Battle of the Bulge, Souchock was MVP of the Eastern League in 1942. A backup with occasional power in the ML, he hit .302 with 11 home runs in 89 games for the Tigers in 1953. A broken wrist in 1954 ended his effectiveness. (JK)
