    Jun 15, 1978 - Hours after the game‚ the Red Sox sell popular OF Bernie Carbo to the Indians‚ the last of what the press dubbed as "The Outlaws." Others reportedly out of favor with manager Don Zimmer and dealt off include Fergie Jenkins‚ Jim WilloughbyRick Wise‚ and Reggie Cleveland. Sam Bowen is called up to take Carbo's place.

    Jan 12, 1972 - In the secondary phase of the January draft‚ the Reds pick JC pitcher Tom Hume‚ The Braves get Sam Bowen‚ and the Red Sox‚ picking 1‚653‚ take Roy Smalley. Duane Kuiper is picked by the Indians.

    May 17, 1967 - The Orioles become the 8th club in AL history with 4 or more HRs in one inning when Andy EtchebarrenSam BowenBoog Powell‚ and Dave Johnson connect in a 9-run 7th. Also homering for Baltimore is Frank RobinsonBrooks Robinson and Paul Blair‚ the only time 7 teammates have each homered. Those HRs make the difference in a 12-8 Baltimore win over the Red Sox. Boston's Carl Yastrzemski hits 2 homers‚ one coming in the bottom of the 7th; the total of 5 in one inning equals the ML record. Rounding out the round trippers is Don Demeter for Boston.

    May 22, 1964 - Baltimore edges the Twins 6-5‚ scoring 2 runs in the 9th for the victory. Twins reliever Jerry Arrigo allows a 2-out HR to Sam Bowens‚ his 2nd HR of the game‚ then throws three balls to John Orsino before being lifted for Bill Fischer. Fischer throws a strike to Orsino who then hits his next pitch for the winning HR. It is Fischer's last ML throw: on the 24th he is placed on the voluntarily retired list.
