    Ross Grimsley

Although his pitching speeds ranged from slow to slower, Grimsley was effective for the powerful Reds of 1971-75. He was named lefthander on the Baseball Digest 1971 All-Star Rookie team, pitched a two-hitter in Game Four of the 1972 NLCS, and won a pair in the WS. Handsome, with wild, curly hair and piercing green eyes, he was also a free spirit. His refusal to conform to the Reds ' short-hair policy helped hasten a trade to Baltimore. The son of Ross Sr., who pitched briefly in the ML, Grimsley signed with Montreal as a free agent in 1978. That year he became the Expos' first 20-game winner and was named Montreal Player of the Year and Tennessee's top pro athlete. (ME)
