Wolff was a knuckleball pitcher used both as a starter and in relief. The Senators cornered the knuckleballer market during WWII, carrying four; they traded Bobo Newsom for Wolff after the 1943 season. In 1945 Wolff won 20 for Washington while Newsom lost 20 for the A's. (JK)
