Harrell was unimpressive in a 1935 trial with St. Louis, but Branch Rickey, trying to bolster a sagging Cardinal pitching staff, gave him another shot in 1937 as a reliever and spot starter. Hit hard, Harrell was sold to the Cubs after the 1938 season. (FJO)
