Aug 7, 2001 - The Braves defeat the Astros 6-5 as Greg Maddux sets a NL record for consecutive innings without a walk. Maddux hurls 6 innings in the game to extend his streak to 70 1/3 frames without a free pass. The old mark of 68 innings was held by Christy Mathewson in 1913 and Randy Jones in 1976. Maddux leaves the game with the streak intact and is 14 IP away from the major league record set by Bill Fischer in 1962.
Jun 13, 1980 - Pete Rose goes 4-for-5 to move past Honus Wagner into 5th place on the all-time hit list with 3431. Philadelphia starts the game with 7 consecutive hits-5 off starter and loser Randy Jones-and goes on to beat San Diego 9-6. Dick Ruthvan is the winner.
May 13, 1979 - The Padres Randy Jones steals 2B against the Mets in a 5-4 San Diego victory. He is the first pitcher in the team's 11-year history to do so.

Randy Jones takes the loss but sets a NL record with 112 errorless chances. The ML record is held Frank Owen of the 1904 White Sox who did not commit an error in 151 chances (121 assists 30 PO). Jones finishes the year with 12 DPs tying the NL record. He also finishes with the NL lead in wins (22) games started (40) and completed (25) IP (315.1) and hits allowed.
Jul 8, 1976 - At Wrigley Field Randy Jones wins his 16th game of the year for the Padres an NL record for wins at the All-Star break. He beats the Cubs 6-3. In the 2nd half of the season the Padres lefty will lose 7 games by one run 2 of them by 1-0 scores.
Jun 22, 1976 - Randy Jones pitches the Padres to a 4-2 win over the Giants and ties Christy Mathewson's 63-year-old NL record by going 68 innings without a base on balls. He receives a standing ovation from the home crowd after striking out Darrell Evans to end the 7th. His streak ends when he walks C Marc Hill leading off the 8th. It is Jones's 13th win of the year.
May 19, 1975 - San Diego's Randy Jones hurls a 10-inning one-hitter in beating St. Louis 1-0. John Curtis takes the tough loss giving up a game-ending homer to John Grubb his 4th hit of the game with one out in the 10th. Melendez has the one hit for the Cards a leadoff single in the 7th.
