    Aug 30, 1952 - A crowd of 41‚558 is on hand for Old Timers Day at Yankee Stadium‚ and the Yankees celebrate by trouncing the Senators‚ 6-4. Mickey Mantle belts a homer to right off Randy Gumpert.

    Aug 24, 1952 - The 2nd place Indians drop 2 games behind the Yankees‚ winners over Detroit‚ when the lose‚ 9-8‚ in 16 innings to the Senators. As noted by historian Joe Haardt‚ all the Nats runs are unearned. Randy Gumpert is the winner over Early Wynn‚ both in relief. Wynn gives up 3 hits and an error on a bunt without retiring a batter.

    Jun 10, 1952 - The Red Sox send pitchers Randy Gumpert and Walt Masterson to Washington for pitcher Sid Hudson.

    Sep 1, 1949 - Washington's Dick Weik should change his name to Walk as he hands out 13 base on balls in nine innings‚ losing to the White Sox‚ 3-0. He matches Tommy Byrne's largesse earlier in the year and he'll close out his career in 1954 with more walks than innings pitched. Randy Gumpert is the winner today as both pitchers allow 4 hits apiece.

    Sep 7, 1940 - The Giants beat the Dodgers‚ 4-1‚ when Babe Young clouts a fifth inning grand slam off Randy Gumpert. The Dodgers score comes on a homer by Jimmy Wasdell.
