    Jan 3, 2006 - The Astros sign free agent CF Preston Wilson to either a 1 year, $4.5 million or 4 year, $28 million contract. Wilson will get $4 million in 2006 and at the end of the season, the team has an option for 3 years, $24 million or a $500,000 buyout.

    Jul 13, 2005 - The Nationals trade P Zach Day‚ OF J.J. Davis‚ and a player to be named to the Rockies for OF Preston Wilson and cash.

    Nov 18, 2002 - When the financial dust clears‚ the cash-strapped Rockies move a 6-year $84.5 million commitment they had to Mike Hampton‚ plus the 3-year $6.6 million commitment they had to Juan Pierre. In return they take on $1.1 million due Vic Darensbourg‚ a 3-year $25 million commitment to Charles Johnson as well as a 3-year $28 million contract of Preston Wilson. They also will pay Atlanta $11 million left on Hampton's contract. Colorado saves $26 million over the next 6 years. Florida agrees to pay $34 million on Hampton's contract and takes on Pierre's contract. The net savings to Florida is $13.5 million. The Braves have Hampton for 6 years at a cost of $39.5 million.

    Nov 16, 2002 - In a swap of large contracts‚ the Rockies trade P Mike Hampton and OF Juan Pierre to the Marlins for OF Preston Wilson‚ C Charles Johnson‚ P Vic Darensbourg‚ and INF Pablo Ozuna. It is the start of a three way deal.

    Sep 2, 2002 - Braden Looper (1-5) in his 66th relief appearance of the year‚ extends the Mets home losing streak to 15 in the 12-inning first game of a doubleheader. Florida wins 3-2. Preston Wilson ties the game in the 9th with a HR‚ and Juan Encarnacion wins it with an RBI double. The Mets take the nightcap‚ 11-5‚ overcoming back-to-back home runs in the 2nd by Derrek Lee and Mike Lowell. Mike Piazza drills a pinch 3-run HR. The win snaps the Mets home loss streak at 15 games‚ a NL record set the 1911 Braves. They last won at home on July 31.

    Sep 4, 2001 - The Marlins Josh Beckett debuts with a 6-inning one hit effort as the Fish beat the Cubs‚ 8-2. Beckett‚ who was 14-1 in the minors‚ also adds a double. Kevin Millar has a grand slam and Preston Wilson a 3-run homer.

    Sep 22, 2000 - The Marlins double the Rockies‚ 8-4‚ as Preston Wilson homers to become the 23rd player in history to have 30 HRs and 30 steals in a season.

    May 18, 2000 - The Padres defeat the Marlins‚ 6-2. Florida steals 10 bases in 10 attempts in the game‚ falling 1 shy of the modern NL mark. Luis Castillo and Cliff Floyd steal 3 apiece‚ while Mark Kotsay and Preston Wilson each pilfer a pair.

    May 22, 1998 - The Mets acquire C Mike Piazza from the Marlins in exchange for OF Preston Wilson‚ P Ed Yarnell and a player to be named. Piazza spent a week with Florida following the Dodger trade. Piazza will be the first player to have a 100-RBI season while playing with three teams.
