    Dec 23, 2003 - Three hours before the Texas deadline on Alex Rodriguez‚ the Red Sox get their infielder‚ signing free agent 2B Pokey Reese to a one year contract. GM Epstein says they'll give up a bit on offense but that Reese is a defensive improvement over 2B Todd Walker. At 5 p.m.‚ Texas owner Tom Hicks declares any deal with Boston is dead and that A-Rod is a Ranger for the next year.

    Jan 30, 2002 - The Pirates sign free agent 2B Pokey Reese to a 2-year contract. Pittsburgh is Reese's 4th team since the end of the 2001 season. He finished the year with Cincinnati‚ and then was traded to the Rockies and the Red Sox in a span of three days in December. Boston did not offer him a contract‚ making him a free agent.

    Dec 18, 2001 - The Reds‚ who tried to sign Pokey Reese in April to a 4-year‚ $21 million contract‚ ship the second baseman and P Dennys Reyes to the Rockies for pitchers Gabe White and Luke Hudson. In turn‚ Colorado sends Reese tomorrow to the Red Sox for C Scott Hatteberg. The Sox will make a Pokey a free agent by not tendering him a contract and he'll sign in January with Pittsburgh. Hatteberg will go the same route and sign with the A's.

    Apr 20, 2000 - The Reds defeat the Giants‚ 11-1‚ as Pokey Reese gets 5 hits‚ including a double. Ken Griffey Jr. hits a pair of HRs for Cincinnati.

    Feb 10, 2000 - The Mariners accommodate OF Ken Griffey Jr. trading him to his hometown Reds in exchange for P Brett Tomko‚ OF Mike Cameron‚ IF Antonio Perez‚ and P Jake Meyer. The Reds resisted giving up INF Pokey Reese.

    Sep 4, 1999 - Down 2-0 after the first inning‚ Cincinnati scores 9 runs in the 5th inning on the way to a 22-3 blowout over Philadelphia. The Reds set a NL record by hitting 9 HRs in the contest-2 by C Eddie Taubensee and 1 apiece by Aaron BooneDmitri YoungJeffrey HammondsGreg VaughnPokey ReeseBrian Johnson‚ and Mark Lewis. The 8 different players going deep is a ML record. Chad Ogea‚ in 2 2/3 innings‚ allows 3 dingers; he has now served up a league high 35. Stan Belinda of the Reds earns a save for Pete Harnisch (14-8); he benefits from the rule that mandates a save be awarded if a pitcher works three innings in relief.

    Jul 21, 1999 - The Reds defeat the Cardinals‚ 1-0‚ behind the one-hit pitching of Ron Villone (8 innings) and Scott Williamson (1 inning) Outfielder J.D. Drew's double is the only hit for St. Louis and Pokey Reese's HR provides the only score.

    Jun 22, 1999 - Cincinnati defeats Arizona‚ 8-7‚ as 2B Pokey Reese goes 5-for-6‚ including a double and triple.

    Mar 31, 1998 - SS Pokey Reese‚ starting in place of Barry Larkin who is on the DL‚ commits 4 errors on his 1st 3 chances in the field as the Reds lose their opener‚ 10-2‚ to the Padres.
