    Nov 10, 2005 - Orioles owner Peter Angelos fires co-GM Jim Beattie.

    Jan 10, 2000 - The Mariners sign free agent P Aaron Sele to a two-year $15 million contract after Orioles owner Peter Angelos nixes a negotiated four-year $29 million (one report says three year 21-million dollars) because of questions concernting Sele's physical condition. The Rangers had offered Sele a four-year‚ $28 million deal that was never consummated. "Sele fell out of the sky‚" marvels M's GM Pat Gillick. Sele will win 17 during the 2000 season to become one of just seven pitchers to win 15 or more games in each of the past three seasons (Pedro Martinez‚ Greg Maddux‚ Randy Johnson‚ David WellsDave Burba‚ and Charles Nagy).

    Dec 17, 1998 - Orioles GM Frank Wren signs free agent P Xavier Hernandez to a 2-year $2.5 million contract‚ only to find out when Hernandez takes a physical that he has a torn rotator cuff. Owner Peter Angelos will void the contract and Hernandez will file a grievance‚ settling eventually for $1.75 million.

    Nov 5, 1997 - Davey Johnson resigns as manager of the Orioles just hours before he is named the American League Manager of the Year. Baltimore owner Peter Angelos had refused to give Johnson a vote of confidence after saying earlier that Johnson would be back in 1998.
