Krueger was a regular infielder for two years with the Cardinals before being traded in 1903 to the pennant-winning Pirates, where he was used as a utility man. He missed the 1903 World Series, the first between the NL and AL, because he was in the hospital after being beaned in a late-season game against his former Cardinal teammates. (BC)
