The 6'5" 220-lb Zauchin, Boston's hope as a righthanded, power-hitting first baseman,
hit 27 HR with 93 RBI as a rookie in 1955. He also struck out an AL-high 105 times.
He had three homers and drove in ten runs against Washington that May 27. Failing
to hit after 1955, he was traded to the Senators in 1958.
