From 1938 to 1948 Robinson played in eight East-West Negro League all-star games, compiling a batting average of .476 with two home runs and an .810 slugging percentage - figures exceeded only by Hall of Famer Buck Leonard. He batted .376 in his rookie 1936 season with the Cincinnati Tigers. Yet most of his career was spent with the Memphis Red Sox, for whom he batted as high as .333 in 1948. He led the league in RBI in 1944. He was a capable fielder with an erratic arm. (BP)
