    Sep 27, 2001 - Randy Johnson has 16 strikeouts‚ raising his total to 366 in winning his 20th game and beats the Brewers for the 13th consecutive time. Johnson exits with an 8-run lead and 2 outs and the sacks full in the 7th‚ but Mike Morgan gives up a 3-run double to Sexson. The Diamondbacks barely edge the Brewers‚ 13-11‚ to move into a 2-game lead over SF. Womack scores 4 runs and has 2 RBIs‚ while Jeromy Burnitz homers for the 5th time in 3 games.

    Apr 5, 2000 - The Diamondbacks bite the Phillies‚ 11-3‚ with Mike Morgan picking up the save. Arizona is his 12th major league team‚ an ML record. (though Bobo Newsom switched teams more often). He also becomes the 25th player‚ and 9th pitcher‚ to appear in 4 decades. Earlier today‚ Jesse Orosco of the Cardinals became the 24th player‚ and 8th pitcher‚ to do so.     Apr 13, 1999 - The Rangers defeat the Mariners‚ 15-6‚ as Texas C Ivan Rodriguez drives in 9 runs. All of Rodriguez's RBIs come on a 3-run HR in the 1st inning‚ a 2-run single in the 2nd‚ and a grand slam in the 3rd. Mike Morgan picks up the win in relief. It is his 1st victory over the Mariners since August 4‚ 1979. The 19 years‚ 8 months and 9 days is the longest a pitcher has ever gone between victories against one team.

    Apr 5, 1999 - OF Juan Encarnacion homers on the first pitch of the game and P Brian Moehler takes a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the Tigers defeat the Rangers‚ 11-5. Texas P Mike Morgan sets a major league record by appearing in a game for his 11th team. And Detroit P Masao Kida becomes the first Tokyo-born player to appear in a big league game when he pitches the 8th inning in relief.

    Sep 7, 1998 - Mark McGwire hits his record-tying 61st HR of the year in the 1st inning off Cubs' P Mike Morgan in St. Louis' 3-2 victory.

    Aug 25, 1998 - The Twins trade veteran Mike Morgan to the Cubs in exchange for a player to be named and cash.

In doing so‚ he ties a modern major league mark‚ shared by Bob Miller and Ken Brett‚ by appearing in a game with his 10th team.     Apr 4, 1994 - Cubs OF Tuffy Rhodes becomes 1st NL player to hit 3 HRs on opening day when he connects off Doc Gooden at Wrigley Field‚ but the Mets beat the Cubs 12-8‚ with Gooden getting the win over Mike Morgan. Tuffy's three HRs are consecutive and he adds a single.

    Jul 15, 1993 - Mike Morgan allows 5 hits in pitching his 1st complete game of the year‚ beating the Rockies‚ 1-0. Sammy Sosa singles‚ steals 2B‚ and Steve Buechele drives a single off Willie Blair to score Sosa. For the Rockies‚ it is the closest to a shutout they'll get this year.

    Apr 30, 1991 - Delino DeSheilds hits a leadoff game-ending homerun in the 9th inning off Mike Morgan to give Montreal a 1-0 victory over the Dodgers. It is just the 2nd hit off Morgan in the game. Dennis Martinez is the victor.

    Apr 18, 1990 - In a 6-2 win at San Francisco‚ Dodger 1B Eddie Murray homers from both sides of the plate‚ the first major leaguer to pull the feat in both leagues. Murray has done it 8 times in the AL. Brooks adds a HR for LA and Mike Morgan takes the win.

    Dec 9, 1982 - In what will turn out to be a pair of unwise deals‚ the Yankees sign free-agent OF Steve Kemp to a 5-year contract‚ and trade OF Dave Collins‚ pitcher Mike Morgan‚ and minor leaguer Fred McGriff to the Blue Jays for P Dale Murray and minor leaguer Tom Dodd.

MSU's Kirk Gibson‚ who most teams assume will play football‚ lasts until the 12th overall pick when his hometown Tigers take him. He signs for $200‚000 and promises to drop football. Kent Hrbek lasts until the 17th round‚ and on the 20th round the Phillies gamble on prep all-American QB Ryne Sandberg. Besides Horner‚ 3 other draft picks‚ all high schoolers‚ will jump directly to the majors after signing: the A's Mike Morgan (June 11); Blue Jays Brian Milner (June 23) and the A's Tim Conroy (June 23). Morgan is taken in the 1st round by the A's. Second round picks include Jesse Orosco (Twins)‚ and Cal Ripken (O's).
