Marv Rickert from the Chronology
Sep 29, 1948 - Johnny Sain picks up his 23rd victory in the Braves 4-3 win over the Dodgers but Boston loses star Jeff Heath who snaps a bone 2 inches above the ankle sliding home. He is hitting .319 with 20 homers and will miss the Series. By special permission of commissioner Happy Chandler the Braves add Marv Rickert as Heath's replacement on the WS roster. Rickert spent the 1948 season at Milwaukee hitting .302 with 27 HRs.
Jun 23, 1946 - At the Polo Grounds Eddie Waitkus and Marv Rickert of the Chicago Cubs set a ML record by hitting back-to-back inside-the-park HRs-a major league first-in the 4th inning but the team loses 15-10 to the New York Giants. Mickey Witek counters with a grand slam in New York's 9-run 4th. Chicago wins the second game 9-4 as the two teams combine for 55 hits on the afternoon. Rickert and Witek each have 5 hits in the 2 games.
Apr 25, 1946 - Despite 5 hits by rookie Marv Rickert the Cubs lose to the Reds 7-5. It is Cincy's first win at Wrigley since September 17 1944 and just their 2nd in 27 games with the Cubs.
