Jun 11, 1954 - At Wrigley the Giants get a 9th inning homer by Ray Kaat his first in the majors to tie the Cubs at 4 apiece. But Eddie Miksis hits the first pitch in the 10th for a catwalk HR to left to give the Cubs and Jim Davis the 5-4 win. The loser is Davis's uncle Marv Grissom. The two teams combine for 9 errors.
May 28, 1954 - At the Polo Grounds the Giants whip the Dodgers 17-6 with a 6-HR barrage. Four of the HRs come in the 8th as Davey Williams Alvin Dark Monte Irvin and Billy Gardner connect off Ben Wade. Whitey Lockman in the 1st and Willie Mays in the 2nd account for the other two. Brooklyn scores a run in the 6th when Giants P Marv Grissom balks home Rube Walker from 3B. Catcher Ray Katt is at fault having called a time out when Grissom is in his windup.
Jul 1, 1953 - The Red Sox send P Marv Grissom to the Giants for cash. Grissom will win 10 games in 1954 and stay with the Giants for 5 years. He will also team up in 1954 with his nephew Jim Davis the first time this has happened.
