    Nov 30, 1999 - Braves minor leaguer Roger Blanco is killed by robbers in Ctia La Mar‚ Venezuela. Blanco‚ 30‚ was traded to the Braves in 1996 for Mark Whiten.

    Oct 9, 1998 - Cleveland takes a 6-1 victory over the Yankees on the strength of 4 HRs: 2 by Jim Thome‚ and 1 each by Manny Ramirez and Mark Whiten. Andy Pettitte gives up 3 of the homers in 5th inning.

    Jul 31, 1998 - Oakland defeats Cleveland‚ 12-2. Down by 9 runs in the 8th inning‚ the Indians bring OF Mark Whiten in to pitch.     Jun 2, 1996 - In Philadelphia‚ the Phils edge the Padres‚ 9-8‚ in 12 innings when Ricky Otero singles home the winner with two outs. Mark Whiten drives in 5 runs for the winners on 2 homers. The first place Padres suffer a blow when Wally Joyner fractured left thumb sliding in the 4th inning. He will be out of action for six weeks.

Bob Tewksbury (16-8) is the winner in the Whiten blowout.

    Mar 31, 1993 - The Cardinals trade P Mark Clark and SS Juan Andujar to the Indians in exchange for OF Mark Whiten. Whiten will have his best season for Cards in '93.

    Jun 27, 1991 - The Indians trade P Tom Candiotti and OF Turner Ward to the Blue Jays in exchange for OF Glenallen Hill‚ OF Mark Whiten‚ P Denis Boucher‚ and a player to be named later.
