It's official: LA inks Schmidt, Gonzalez: The Dodgers made two signings official on Friday. GM Ned Colletti announced that Los Angeles has signed starting pitcher Jason Schmidt to a three-year deal that is reportedly valued at $47 million, and later confirmed a one-year deal for outfielder Luis Gonzalez.
D-backs make arbitration decisions: The D-backs on Friday offered salary arbitration to free-agent pitcher Miguel Batista and declined to do the same to outfielder Luis Gonzalez. Batista is classified as a"Type B"free agent, while Gonzalez is a"Type A"free agent.
