    John Wyckoff

As a hard-throwing youngster, Wyckoff went 11-7 for the 1914 pennant-winning Athletics. With nearly all of their stars sold, traded, or lost to the Federal League, Philadelphia finished last in 1915. Wyckoff outpitched Boston's Babe Ruth that Memorial Day, winning 2-1 and striking Ruth out twice. He emerged as the team's ace, winning 10 games, but led the league with 22 losses and 165 walks. A sore arm ended his career. (JL)
