The brother of catcher Johnnie Heving, Joe was a sinkerballer who led his league three times in relief wins and twice in relief losses. In 1944 he was the only grandfather playing ML baseball, but still topped the AL with 63 appearances for Cleveland, and had a career-best 1.96 ERA. Heving finished in 1945 with 63 lifetime saves.
