Genewich was a $5-a-game sandlot pitcher with no college or minor league experience
when the Braves signed him. As a rookie in early 1923, he outpitched the Giants'
Jack Bentley, for whom John McGraw had just paid $65,000. Genewich had had limited
success in five-plus Boston seasons (57-76) when McGraw traded four players for him
in mid-1928. He went 11-4 the rest of the season,
then faded.
