Carlson was in his fourteenth ML season when he died of a stomach hemorrhage in May 1930. He won a career-high 17 in 1926, and was 64-48 from 1925 until his death. He spent his first seven seasons with the Pirates. A respectable batter, Carlson delivered a pinch homer for the Phillies on May 30, 1925. (ME)
