Apr 21, 1963 - The Senators acquire P Jim Coates from the Yankees in exchange for P Steve Hamilton. The Yanks sell P Hal Brown to Houston.
Sep 7, 1962 - With a three game lead the Yankees purchase some insurance-righty Hal Brown from the Orioles.
Apr 10, 1962 - At Yankee Stadium‚ Mantle‚ Maris‚ and Skowron‚ the three Yankees who combined for 143 homers last season‚ hit Opening Day homers to lead New York to a come-from-behind 7-6 win over Baltimore. Moose's is a 2-run shot to dead center that he legs out for an inside-the -park homer‚ while Mantle hits his in the 8th inning to tie the game‚ Maris hits a 3-run shot in the 5th. Johnny Temple‚ in his first game for the O's‚ has three hits‚ including a HR. Starters Billy Hoeft and Whitey Ford are gone after six innings‚ and the win goes to Ralph Terry‚ while Hal Brown takes the loss.
Jun 1, 1960 - Mickey Mantle hits a one-out HR in the first inning a 400-foot blow on an 0-2 pitch for the only Yankee hit against Baltimore's Hal Brown. The Baby Birds win 4-1 and sweep the three game series with the Yankees to move into first place (27-15). New York leaves Baltimore in 4th place (19-19).
May 19, 1957 - In the first of two at Baltimore Tito Francona has a pair of homers and drives in 5 runs to lead the Orioles to a 10-5 win over Kansas City. George Kell also homers for the Birds. Game 2 is a 5 1/2 scoreless duel between the O's Hal Brown and Rip Coleman of KC. Coleman will receive credit for a shutout though his record for the season will be 0-7.
Aug 11, 1956 - Mantle hits his 40th homer off Hal Brown as the Yankees clip the Orioles 10-5. Mantle is the first Yankee since DiMaggio in 1937 to hit 40 homers. New York leads the AL by 8 1/2 games.
Aug 15, 1954 - At Yankee Stadium Mickey Mantle takes Boston's Hal Brown downtown hitting his 11th homer against the Red Sox this year to pace New York to a 14-9 win. Harry Agganis hits his first ML grand slam for Boston.
Feb 10, 1953 - The White Sox send pitchers Marv Grissom Bill Kennedy and Hal Brown to the Red Sox for 33-year-old infielder Vern Stephens. A perennial All-Star in the 1940s Stephens' best years are behind him.
Sep 12, 1952 - The Yankees (83-57) subdue the White Sox 6-4 to remain a half game ahead of the Indians. Tom Gorman is the winner over Hal Brown.
