Nov 2, 1972 - Former Boston SS Freddy Parent dies at the age of 96. Parent had been the last surviving player from the first modern WS between Boston and Pittsburgh in 1903.

Sep 20, 1908 - Frank Smith pitches a no-hitter for the White Sox against the A's‚ winning 1-0 and giving up just one walk. It is Smith's 2nd no-hitter. The winning run scores in the bottom of the 9th when Freddy Parent‚ whom Eddie Plank is walking intentionally‚ reaches out and pokes a sacrifice to short RF.

Aug 2, 1904 - Prompt action by Boston Americans players Bill Dinneen‚ Norwood Gibson‚ Freddy Parent‚ and Hobe Ferris prevents a tragedy in a Cleveland hotel. Returning to their rooms following the game‚ the 4 are confronted by a fire sweeping through the 5th floor. They extinguish the blaze and are toasted as heroes.
