Aug 30, 1995 - Tiger teammates Lou Whitaker and Alan Trammell tie an AL record by playing in their 1914th game together a 10-7 loss to the White Sox. The record was set by KC's George Brett and 2B Frank White.
Jul 6, 1987 - Cleveland starts three days of contentious baseball with Kansas City by beating the Royals 9-7. Snyder drives in 6 runs with 2 homers the 2nd a grand slam off Farr in relief of Saberhagen (14-3) in the 8th. Winning pitcher Sammy Stewart hits Jamie Quirk with a pitch breaking his hand and Frank White is also decked. Tomorrow Willie Wilson will be decked by Ken Schrom and will lead a benches-clearing brawl with a charge to the mound. The Tribe will come back to win that one as well as Joe Carter hits a 2-run HR off Quissenberry in the 9th.

Rich Gossage goes in the 9th round to the White Sox; Rick Reuschel to the Cubs (3); pitcher Dale Murphy to the Braves (18th). The Giants took Randy Moffitt and Chris Speier on the first round in January and repeat the good first round picks today with John D'Acquisto and Dave Kingman. The Reds take prep SS Gary Polczynski in the first round but have better luck in the 8th (Wayne McEnaney) the 10th (Ray Knight) and the 19th (Pat Zachary). The Phillies Royals Dodgers and Angels pick 5th 8th 9th and 10th on the first round and also come up with duds. Future seventeen-year major leaguer Frank White goes undrafted today while the Cards take Bake McBride on the 37th round.
