    Francisco Cabrera

Cabrera saved himself from baseball anonymity with one of the most dramatic pinch hits in post-season baseball history. Despite collecting just ten at-bats for Atlanta during the regular season, Cabrera stepped to the plate in Game Seven of the 1992 NLCS with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Braves trailing Pittsburgh 2-1. Cabrera lined the third offering from Pirates' reliever Stan Belinda through the hole between shortstop and third base, scoring the tying and winning runs (David Justice and Sid Bream) ahead of Pirates' left fielder Barry Bonds' throw home. The hit sent Atlanta to its second straight World Series. For his career, the Dominican-born catcher/first baseman hit .254 with 17 home runs in 196 games. (AGL)
