Robinson contributed 16 home runs and 83 RBI to Cleveland's pennant drive in 1948
and batted .300 in the WS. Traded to the Senators after the season, he was dealt
again early in 1950 to the White Sox, where he had his best seasons. In 1951 he hit
29 homers, the club record until 9;

1970, and drove in 117 runs. The next
year he hit 22 homers with 104 RBI. Although he was the only legitimate power hitter
for the Go-Go White Sox, GM
Frank Lane nevertheless traded him before the 1953 season
to the A's for two-time batting champion
Ferris Fain, another singles hitter. Robinson
had one more top year, hitting 22 homers and batting in over 100 runs for the third
straight season. He moved on to the Yankees in 1954, and became their premier pinch
hitter, leading the AL with 15 hits in 49 at-bats.
