Stevens played well in 55 games as a Dodger rookie in 1945, and was platooned in 1946. But when Jackie Robinson debuted in 1947 at first base, Stevens was sent down. Purchased by the Pirates, he led NL first basemen in fielding in 1948, but poor offense cut short his career. (ME)
