    Apr 4, 1961 - The Yankees reacquire P Duke Maas‚ trading INF Fritz Brickell to the Angels in exchange. The Angels had paid the Yanks $75‚000 for Maas in the 1960 expansion draft.

    Sep 13, 1959 - The Indians lose a doubleheader to New York‚ 2-1 and 1-0. Mantle wins the opener with a 2-run 11th inning homer‚ his 29th of the year. In the nitecap‚ Duke Maas outpitches Jim Perry. The 2 losses push the Tribe to 5 1/2 games behind leading Chicago‚ which wins today.

    Jun 21, 1958 - Frank Lary pitches his 3rd straight shutout‚ beating the Yankees Duke Maas‚ 1-0. Kaline throws out Maas at the plate and hits his 7th HR to extend his hitting streak to 18 games.

    Jun 15, 1958 - On the last day of trading‚ the Yanks send 1954 Rookie of the Year P Bob Grim and OF/1B Harry "Suitcase" Simpson to the Athletics for P Virgil Trucks and RHP Duke Maas. The Tigers trade P Bob Shaw and 1B Ray Boone to the White Sox for OF Tito Francona and P Bill Fischer.

    Nov 20, 1957 - The Kansas City Athletics trade INF Billy Martin‚ OFs Gus Zernial and Lou Skizas‚ Ps Mickey McDermott and Tom Morgan‚ and C Tim Thompson to Detroit. In exchange‚ the Tigers send OFs Bill Tuttle‚ Jim Small‚ Ps Duke Maas and John Tsitouris‚ C Frank House‚ SS Kent Hadley‚ and a player to come later.

    May 24, 1956 - Mickey Mantle goes 5-for-5 with an intentional walk in an 11-4 win against the Tigers. Mantle is hitting .421. He combines with Joe Collins for back-to-back homers‚ off Duke Maas.
