Second baseman Miller was
Honus Wagner's double-play partner in Pittsburgh from 1909
to 1911, then moved to first base. He was used all over the Cardinals' infield from
1914 to 1919, playing virtually every day. As a rookie manager, he led San Francisco
to the 1922
Pacific Coast League championship, but took ill and died in September
1923, four days before his 37th birthday.
