Oct 5, 1956 - The Dodgers come back from a 6-0 deficit in Game 2 to win 13-8 behind the sterling relief pitching of Don Bessent. Yankee C Yogi Berra becomes the first player in WS history to hit a grand slam in a losing cause as he sends one over the RF screen off Don Newcombe in the 2nd.
Sep 8, 1956 - The Dodgers edge the Giants 4-3 on pitcher Don Bessent's 8th inning sac fly. Gil Hodges loses his glove in the 7th and dispite the public announcement request for help in finding it the glove doesn't reappear till the 9th when an offer is made to swap it for a new glove. The trade with a fan happens seconds later with no questions asked.
Jul 17, 1955 - In what would be their most important move of the season the Brooklyn Dodgers bring up rookie pitchers Roger Craig and Don Bessent from the minor leagues. They immediately pay dividends as they beat the Reds in both ends of a doubleheader. Craig wins 6-2 and Bessent matches it 8-5.
