    Dick Seay

Seay was a 5'8" 150-lb hustling infielder who performed for more than 20 years in the Negro Leagues. He was a light hitter but a good bunter and hit-and-run man. His splendid throwing arm and sparkling defense gained him recognition as one of black baseball's premier fielders. Besides league play, he performed in Puerto Rico and toured in 1927-28 with Chappie Johnson's Stars, a black barnstorming team operating out of Montreal. He was the second baseman for the 1934 Negro National Association champion Philadelphia Stars, and for three East all-star squads. While available data indicates his lifetime batting average was in the low .200 range, he hit .340 in 15 exhibitions against white major leaguers. (MFK)
