Nen had only one hit in eight at-bats for the 1963 World Champion Dodgers, but it
was a monstrous home run over the right field roof in St. Louis on September 18 as
the Dodgers and Cardinals battled for the pennant. Nen's home run tied the game,
which the Dodgers went on to win in 13 innings, and he received a $1,000 WS share
from his grateful teammates after they swept the Yankees in October. The husky first
baseman didn't reach the ML again until 1965 with the Senators, and hit above .218
only once in four seasons as a part-time player.
