    As a rookie, Dick Ellsworth paced NL pitchers in fielding. The lanky'`h)''@@lefthander won 22 games for the 1963 Cubs. He lost 22, to lead the league and tie a Cub record, in 1966. Ellsworth twice led the NL in hits surrendered. He was tagged for 34 homers, most among NL hurlers, in 1964. Four years later, Ellsworth compiled a .696 (16-8) NL winning percentage. Like fellow big league hurlers Tom Seaver and Jim Maloney, Ellsworth attended Fresno (California) High School. (TJ)
