Sep 30, 1922 - In the 2nd of two at Cubs Park‚ the Cards whip the Cubs‚ 5-3‚ in a game stopped after 5 innings. The big blow for the Birds is a 3-run homer in the 1st inning by journeyman infielder Del Gainer off Cubs lefty Percy Jones. When Jones is lifted‚ so is Gainer‚ who closes out his career with the home run. The Cards also take the opener‚ 9-8.
