    May 8, 1986 - Chuck Cottier is fired as manager of the Mariners. He will be replaced tomorrow by Dick Williams‚ who resigned as manager of the Padres in February.

    Sep 1, 1984 - Two weeks after being given a vote of confidence by club owner George Argyros‚ Mariners manager Del Crandall is fired and replaced by 3B coach Chuck Cottier.

    May 11, 1962 - With 2 outs in the 6th‚ the Senators explode for 11 runs to rout the Orioles‚ 12-1. Woodling's grand slam is the big blow‚ but Chuck Cottier has 2 doubles in the inning. Dave Stenhouse (2-0) pops out to end the inning‚

Chuck Cottier has 3 doubles and 3 RBIs to back Buhl. Haddix is the loser and gives way to Diomedes Olivo‚ who makes his ML debut in relief. At age 41‚ or thereabouts‚ Olivo is the oldest rookie in ML history except for Satchel Paige. The IL MVP pitches 2 runless innings.
