Jun 18, 1959 - At Baltimore Chico Carrasquel drives in 2 urns in both the 8th and 9th innings to give the Birds a 6-7 win over the Tigers. Tiger star Al Kaline hitting .357 fractures his shoulder and will be out of action.
Oct 2, 1958 - The Orioles acquire OF Dick Williams from Kansas City for SS Chico Carrasquel.
Jun 12, 1958 - The A's and Indians swap shortstops the Tribe getting Bill Hunter and the A's taking Chico Carrasquel.
Aug 2, 1956 - Herb Score shuts out the Yankees 4-0 for the Indians 7th shut out in their last 12 games. Bobby Avila gets the Tribe on board with an inside-the-park homer in the 3rd. Ward and Colavito go back-to-back in the 4th and one out later Chico Carrasquel homers. The 4 solo homers in a shutout win sets a ML record.
Oct 25, 1955 - The White Sox trade Chico Carrasquel and Jim Busby to the Indians for Larry Doby.
Sep 16, 1955 - Kansas City scores 7 runs in the first inning and rolls to a 13-7 win over the faltering White Sox. The 3rd place Sox lose their 10th in 17 games. Hector Lopez hits a 3-run homer in the first to start the scoring and later in the game Joe Astroth adds a 3-run homer. George Kell and Chico Carrasquel homer for the Sox. In the 8th 16-year-old shortstop Alex George debuts for Kansas City handling two chances in the field flawlessly and making out in his one at bat. George will go 1-for-10 in this his only ML season.
Aug 20, 1955 - The Tigers shell Bob Keegan but the White Sox rally to edge Detroit 8-7. Nellie Fox and Jim Rivera pace the attack with 4 hits apiece while Chico Carrasquel adds a homer. George Kell drives in 5 runs for the Bengals. The loss leaves the White Sox (71-46) in 2nd place with the Indians (73-48) and a game in back of New York (74-47).
Apr 23, 1955 - The visiting White Sox erupt for 29 hits in a 29-6 ripping of Kansas City. C Sherm Lollar becomes the only man in the decade to get 2 hits in one inning twice in the same game. Lollar's feat comes in the 2nd and 6th innings. Chico Carrasquel goes 5-for-6 as the White Sox pound out 7 HRs. Bob Nieman has 7 RBIs to pace the Sox offensive attack with 2 homers; Lollar (2) Walt Dropo pitcher Jack Harshman and Minnie Minoso also homer. Chico Carrasquel and Minoso each score 5 runs. KC gets homers from Vic Power and Bill Renna. Bobby Shantz takes the loss.
Jun 25, 1952 - White Sox SS Chico Carrasquel fractures his little finger in a 10-inning Sox loss which drops Chicago 4 games out of 1st place. He'll reinjure it July 9 and be out of the lineup till August 19. The injury to Carrasquel the starting SS in the All-star game in 1951 1953 and 1954 is key as the Sox will finish in 3rd.
Aug 6, 1950 - Boston P Ellis Kinder hits a grand slam off White Sox ace Billy Pierce and totals 6 RBIs in the game. Kinder's HR comes after an intentional pass to Birdie Tebbetts. For "Old Folks" it is his first and only career homer. The Red Sox roll 9-2. Kinder also stops rookie Chico Carrasquel's consecutive game batting steak of 24 games. Joe Dobson gives up 7 hits in the nitecap and wins 4-3 to give the Bosox a sweep.
Oct 19, 1949 - Three weeks after acquiring SS Chico Carrasquel from the Dodgers organization for cash and 2 minor leaguers the White Sox steal 2B Nellie Fox from the A's for C Joe Tipton.
