Despite an 11-year career, Fewster is chiefly remembered for one play: Brooklyn's "three-men-on-third" muddle of 1926 against the Braves. Actually, Fewster never made it to third. Babe Herman, whose base hit to right set things in motion, passed him between second and third, thereby becoming an automatic (second) out. With cautious Dazzy Vance clinging to third, Fewster's only option was to return to second. But, bemused by events, he fled into the outfield, where he was tagged out to end the inning. (ADS)
