Chauncey was the older brother of
Tom Fisher (1902 Tigers, 1904 Braves). He broke
into the majors in 1893 with the
Cleveland Spiders and tossed two complete-game losses.
He was sent to Cincinnati in mid-1894. He finished the season with a dismal 2-10
record and an ERA of 7.76. He bounced back in 1896-97 for Cincinnati and Brooklyn,
winning 19 games in the two years. He returned to the major leagues in 1901, when
he threw a game for the Giants and one for the Cardinals. He also pitched for the
Chicago White Sox championship team of 1900, the year before they attained major
league status.
