Bump Wills from the Chronology
May 25, 1998 - Cleveland 2B David Bell becomes the 3rd player in major league history to play against a team managed by his father. Bell's 2-run double brings home the go-ahead run in the Indians 7-4 win over Buddy Bell's Detroit Tigers. Bump Wills and Moises Alou are the only other players to appear in games against their fathers.
May 6, 1978 - In a 9-5 loss to Texas Yankee 2B Willie Randolph pulls the hidden ball trick on Texas Bump Wills in the first inning. In 1980 Randolph will have it pulled on him (as noted by Bill Deane) and he joins Cepeda as the only 2 players known to pull off and have pulled on them the HBT.
Aug 27, 1977 - Rangers Toby Harrah and Bump Wills hit back-to-back inside-the-park HRs on consecutive pitches off Ken Clay highlighting an 8-2 win over the Yankees only the 2nd loss for New York in 14 games. It ties the ML mark and it is the first time since 1946 that two batters have connected consecutively on IPHRs.
