    Bob Robertson

The stocky, red-haired slugger, a three-time minor league home run champ, was touted in Pittsburgh as another Ralph Kiner. He missed all of 1968 due to a kidney obstruction. An excellent fielder, he set a ML record for first basemen with eight assists in one game (6/21/71). His best offensive year was 1970 (.287, 27 HR, 82 RBI). He nearly matched those figures in 1971, when he was a postseason wrecking crew. He hit three homers (a record) and drove in five runs (also a record) in Game Two of the LCS against the Giants, homered again in Game Three, and homered twice in the WS. He slumped in the next two years, and was only a part-time player after surgery on both knees in 1974. (JCA)
