    Oct 23, 1974 - The Cubs trade sweet-swinging Billy Williams‚ a fixture at Wrigley for 16 years‚ to the A's for 2B Manny Trillo and pitchers Darold Knowles and Bob Locker.

    Sep 30, 1973 - Going into today‚ a five-way tie is still possible in the NL between Montreal‚ Pittsburgh. New York‚ St. Louis and Chicago. In the first of two‚ Chicago wins 1-0 over the Mets behind Bob Locker 2-inning relief effort‚ then is eliminated when New York wins game 2 by a 9-2 score. Jerry Koosman tops Fergie Jenkins. The two teams will play a make-up doubleheader tomorrow.

    May 8, 1973 - Cubs manager Whitey Lockman is ejected during a 12-inning 3-2 win over the Padres. Coach Ernie Banks fills in for the last few innings‚ technically becoming the ML's first black manager. Cubs Bob Locker pitches in his 500th game: all have been in relief‚ a ML record.

Without swinging a bat‚ they score 3 more: Bob Locker throws a wild pitch and C Gerry McNertney's wild return throw sails into RF allowing 2 more to tally.

    Jun 8, 1969 - The White Sox trade P Bob Locker to the Pilots for P Gary Bell. Bell has rung up his best games‚ and he will prove a disaster in Chicago.

    Sep 10, 1967 - Joel Horlen revives Chicago pennant hopes with a 5-0 no-hit win against the Tigers. Detroit hits only two balls to the outfield. Behind the pitching of Cisco Carlos with help from Wilhelm and Bob Locker‚ the Sox win game 2 by a 4-0 score to move a game behind the 2nd-place Red Sox.

    Aug 29, 1965 - The White Sox take a pair from Boston by 3-2 scores with rookie Bob Locker saving both games. Shortstop Ron Hansen handles 28 chances in the 2 games‚ a ML record‚ and his 18 chances in the 14-inning opener ties the ML record for extra innings.
