    Bob James

An intimidating 6'4" 230-lb power pitcher, James was the Expos' first-round pick in the 1976 June draft. After saving 10 games for Montreal in 1984 (his first full ML season), he was traded to the White Sox and earned a club-record 32 saves in 1985. But he essentially ended his 1986 season, and his career, that August 4 by tearing a muscle in his pitching arm. Disabled for more than two months of 1987, the bearded reliever could not regain his 92-mph fastball and was released. He recorded 73 career saves. (JCA)
