Chipman alternated between long relief and spot starts over his ML career. Never a hard thrower, he failed to impress Dodger manager Leo Durocher although he did not allow an earned run in four appearances spread over three years (1941-43). Traded to the Cubs for Eddie Stanky in 1944, he went 12-10 that season, his career best. (MC)
