Bayne had such a wicked curveball that it once led Ty Cobb to pinch-hit a righthanded hitter for himself. Bayne's best season was with the Browns in 1921, when he was 11-5, but he slumped to 4-5 during St. Louis's pennant run in 1922. He was a lifetime .290 hitter. (WB)
