    Balor Moore

Moore, who debuted at 19, was the fledgling Expos' first pick in the June 1969 draft. An overpowering young pitcher, the Texan was called a lefthanded Nolan Ryan and went 9-9 in 1972, averaging almost 10 strikeouts a game. That winter he pitched a perfect game for San Juan in Puerto Rico, the first nine-inning perfect game in that league's 36-year history. Wild in 1973, he fell to 7-16. After being demoted and disabled in 1974, Moore underwent elbow surgery in 1975 and left the Montreal organization with a French-Canadian wife, but without a fastball. He didn't win another ML game until 1978, with Toronto, for whom he went 12-17 over three seasons. (JCA)
