Alan Benes from the Chronology
May 10, 2003 - The Cubs trade P Alan Benes to the Rangers for a player to be named later. The Rangers sent P Ryan Drese to the minors to make room on the roster for Benes.
Sep 6, 2002 - The Cardinals defeat the Cubs 11-2 as brothers Andy and Alan Benes oppose each other in the 7th matchup of brothers in ML history. Andy gets the win while Alan takes the loss. The Cards score all 11 of their runs in the 3rd inning.
Jun 16, 1997 - At Milwaukee Jeremy Burnitz hits a game-ending HR in the 9th off Alan Benes to give the Brewers a 1-0 win over the Cardinals.
May 16, 1997 - Michael Tucker's 2-out double in the 9th breaks up Alan Benes' no-hitter. Benes unfortunately is matched against Greg Maddux who holds the Cards scoreless for 8 innings. The Braves finally push across a run in the 13th on Andruw Jones' infield dribbler to beat Cardinals reliever John Frascatore 1-0. The teams combine for 33 strikeouts three shy of matching the NL record for an extra-inning game set by the Giants and Mets in 23-innings in 1964.
Jun 3, 1991 - In a CWS matchup of first round pitchers Creighton's Alan Benes (drafted in 1993) and Wichita State's Tyler Green drafted earlier today by the Phils battle for 9 innings with each giving up 2 unearned runs. Benes allows 4 hits and walks none in 8 1/3 while Green strikes out 14 in 9 innings. Shockers CF Jim Audley beats out an infield hit in the 12th and comes around to score putting Wichita up 3-2. Audley then throws out a runner at home to end the game.
