Hall of Famers
The first inductees into the Hall of Fame were Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth, and Honus Wagner, elected by the Baseball Writers of America in January 1936. However, the actual Hall did not open until June 1939, baseball's supposed "centennial".
